What is the Eternity Code? (Definition)
The Eternity Code (or Eternean) is a fictional cipher used by Artemis Fowl II to protect the C-Cube in the third book of the series, Artemis Fowl and the Eternity Code.
In the first editions of the book, an encrypted text in Eternean appears at the bottom of the pages. This text is a secret message addressed to the reader.
How to encode a message using the Eternity Code?
To encode a message using the Eternity Code, use the correspondence table between letters and Eternean symbols.

Each letter is represented by a symbol made of horizontal bars whose number and vertical position are significant, with stacks of up to 12 bars.

Digits, spaces and punctuation are not letters and are omitted during transcription.
In the book, the complete table is not provided and 3 letters remain untranslated: J, Q and Z.
How to decode the Eternity Code?
To decode the Eternity Code, identify the Eternean symbols and determine the correspondences between symbols (see above).

How to recognize the Eternity Code?
The Eternity Code is mainly recognizable by its symbols made of stacked horizontal bars. The number of bars and their vertical position are the main pieces of information used to distinguish the letters. Some symbols can contain up to 12 bars.
In the first relevant editions, these symbols appear as a continuous sequence at the bottom of the pages and progressively form a long message.
Any references to Artemis Fowl and its author Eoin Colfer are clues.
Where can editions containing the Eternity Code be found?
Original editions before 2006 contain the Eternity Code. Post-2006 reprints do not include the Eternity Code but use Gnommish.
